About Us

Your Safety Is Our Mission

For over 50 years, North Union Fire District has stood as a pillar of service for Marion and Union Parish. What began as a small volunteer effort has grown into a professional, well-equipped department — but our core value hasn't changed: every person in our community deserves to feel safe.

Our team of dedicated firefighters and EMTs responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Beyond emergency response, we invest in the community through fire prevention education, school visits, and public awareness campaigns. Because the best emergency is the one that never happens.

Essential Fire Safety Tips

Simple steps that can save lives. Share these tips with your family and neighbors.

1

Test Your Smoke Alarms

Test smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries at least once a year. If your alarm is more than 10 years old, replace the entire unit.

2

Make an Escape Plan

Draw a floor plan showing two exits from every room. Practice your escape plan with your family at least twice a year — day and night.

3

Cooking Safety

Never leave the kitchen while frying, grilling, or broiling. Keep flammable items away from the stovetop and stay alert when cooking at home.

4

Heater Clearance

Keep space heaters at least three feet from anything that burns. Turn off portable heaters when you leave the room or go to sleep.

5

Candle Safety

Never leave burning candles unattended. Keep them away from curtains, bedding, and pets. Consider using flameless LED candles instead.

6

Have an Extinguisher

Keep a ABC-rated fire extinguisher in your kitchen and garage. Know how to use it — remember PASS: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.
